The ingredients needed to make Collard Stock:
  1. Prepare 4 cups water
  2. Take 1 ham bone or 2 pieces of bacon
  3. Make ready 1 1/2 inch thick cut of onion
  4. Prepare 1/2 cup hot sauce
  5. Get 3 table spoons salt
  6. Get 1 stick butter
  7. Take 3 tablespoons pepper
  8. Make ready 3 tablespoons onion powder
  9. Prepare 3 tablespoons garlic powder
Instructions to make Collard Stock:
  1. Throw everything in a stock pot and let simmer on medium for 4 hours. Keep adding water to keep the contents cooking. Taste every hour to see if you need more salt or pepper (I usually add more by hour 3, a tablespoon of each)
  2. When ready to cook collards or turnips or cabbage add 4 more cups of water and strain onions out. Its that easy!!
