  4. Make ready 1 tbsp Hersheys Special Dark a cocoa Powder
  5. Get FROSTING AND FILLING
  6. Prepare 1 recipe Whipped Chocolate Ganache Frosting and Filling, recipe attached in direction step #7
  7. Make ready GARNISH
  8. Prepare 4 oz white chocolate, chopped
  9. Take fresh rasberries

Three layers of chocolate, vanilla and strawberry combine to make one stunning layer cake covered in creamy vanilla buttercream. The perfect spin-off of my favourite Chocolate Chip Cake, this three layer beauty is essentially a vanilla cake made with butter, sugar, flour - and a little sour cream. This chocolate layer cake recipe is the best!! It is incredibly moist and chocolaty, but also has great structure and stacks incredibly well!

Instructions to make Vanilla and Chocolate Striped Butter Layer Cake:
  1. Preheat oven to 350. Spray 2-8 inch cake pans with non stick spray
  2. Make White Butter Cake cake batter as directed in recipe, attached below and seperate batter into 2 bowls. Add the Hersheys syrup and cocoa powder to one of the bowls and fold it in to blend - - https://cookpad.com/us/recipes/336925-white-butter-cake
  3. Scoop about 1/2 cup chocolate batter into prepared pans, just let it spread out don't push it, it will not cover bottom. The remaing steps will push the batter out
  4. Add 1/2 cup vanilla batter directly over chocolate batter, you will see it start to push chocolate batter tward edges of pan.
  5. Add another 1/2 cup of chocolate directly over vanilla batter. Continue alternating this way until the batter is used up about 5 or 6 additions
  6. Bake in the preheated oven 18 to 24 minutes or until toothpick comes put just clean, cool in pans on rack 10 minutes then remove from pans as cool completely before frosting

  8. Place one cake layer, bottom side up on serving plate
  9. Frost with some of the Whipped Chocolate Ganache
  10. Place second cake layer on top of first frosted layer, bottom side up
  11. Frost entire cake, decorate with the rasberries and chill about 30 minutes to firm up frosting before drizzling with white chocolate garnish
  12. Melt white chocolate in microwave or over double boiler until smooth
  13. Drizzle white chocolate over cake. Refigerate cake 20 minutes for easy cutting

When I think about chocolate cake, I want the cake layers to be moist. I want them to be packed with chocolatey flavor, and to have a soft texture. Three layers of vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry cakes with silky Swiss meringue Buttercream frosting in the same three flavors on top. BUT I have made this a little easier by using the vanilla cake recipe for both the vanilla layer. Beat egg whites until stiff and fold into butter mixture.
